menu Summary

New Product (Polymer/Materials Science) and Business Development Leader.

A world renowned expert in polymer synthesis and materials characterization, who uses his marketing and project management skills to identify and develop new materials to meet the needs of the marketplace. A leader of large, global, multidisciplinary, matrix-oriented groups in new product and new business development.

I have experience leading large research groups, with a focus on new Product Development and Business Development, to quickly develop, commercialize and monetize new technology. In collaboration with Marketing and Sales functions, I use marketing information to identify and develop new product development programs, and ensure that those projects are progressing using stage gate methodologies.

I also have experience in protecting intellectual property by developing and executing a patenting/licensing strategy.

My scientific experience includes polymer synthesis and catalysis, polymer characterization, block copolymers, organic(polymeric) light emitting diodes (OLEDs), Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP), and controlled/"living" radical polymerization.

Specialties: Organic/Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Characterization, Organic/Polymeric Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs), Materials Science, Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP), Controlled/"Living" Radical Polymerization

Group Leader

Eastman Chemical Company

September 2013 - Present

Leading research and development in acetate tow fiber technology for filtration applications. Developed new opportunities for acetate fiber in textiles (blends of cellulose acetate fiber with other fibers) and nonwovens. This led to the launch of two new products into the marketplace: Naia (textile fiber) and Vestera (staple fiber for nonwovens).
