menu Summary

I am a senior professional with broad range of competencies: I have an analytical mind but I can also design and build solutions, I can work in solo but I can also be a team-player or lead a group with vision. All this is reflected in what I studied and where I worked. I can easily navigate different cultures, industries, types of organisations, job functions. I feel equally at home in sales, research, development and operations because all these functions appeal to a part of me: interest in what motivates people, curiosity about the natural world, desire to solve problems and get things done.

I worked in a range of industries: energy, manufacturing, pharma, medical biotechnology, information, consulting, academic research and education. I have lived and worked in Amsterdam, Bangkok, Singapore and Luxemburg, with extended work assignments throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, USA and South-America.

I am keen to apply my knowledge and skills to address the many unmet needs in our world with the unprecedented tools we have at our disposal today. I am strongly convinced that these tools (which combine data, analytics, artificial intelligence, human-machine interaction and digital-to-physical conversion technologies such as 3D printing and robotics) will dramatically improve operational effectiveness and enable completely new production- and business models, which can and should be used to benefit mankind. I am looking for opportunities to help build these models of the future.

Senior Lecturer - Digital Innovation Lab

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam)

July 2017 - Present

I am part-time with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration to help shape and deliver the Digital Innovation Lab, which is part of their MSc. programme Digital Business and Innovation.

This programme draws upon multiple disciplines of business and management, including business information systems, innovation management, strategy, organization studies, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

The Innovation Lab is a hands-on lab class that takes students on a journey to develop their own innovation. The class is designed around the innovation funnel and takes students through five stages. We start with the concept of an innovation and show where innovations come from (1), then move towards creativity (2) before we cover innovation processes (3), and then cover the value capturing aspects of innovation management by examining business models (4), marketing, and intellectual property protection (5).
